We are a charity based in the UK, dedicated to
education in India. In one of the fastest developing countries in the
world, most children don’t yet have access to quality education that
will enable them to play a full part in today’s and tomorrow’s world.
Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world. A complete education unlocks the potential of every child to grow to their full capacity, and to build communities in justice peace and hope.
The
Charity began with a hole in the roof of a rural school in Andhra
Pradesh. As often happens to overseas visitors, they asked us for the
cash to mend it. But why was it there in the first place? If we fixed it
up for now, when would it next fall in? Wouldn’t the best way to fix
the hole be to fix the school sot hat it was able to take responsibility
for its own buildings?
The journey led to a full assessment of the educational reality and potential of three schools in Nandyal. How could failing charity schools from the past be turned into self-confident, high quality English Medium schools? Starting with one existing school in Nandyal, our model is being developed with a capacity to go viral, and provide many thousands of schools for the future all over India.
